Dr. Levine and the Civil War
Dr. Levine is passionate about preserving the history of the Civil War. He presents Civil War educational programs to local schools, synagogues, churches, colleges, boy scouts and community civic organizations. These programs are an outgrowth of his involvement with the 69th Pennsylvania Regiment Civil War Reinactment Group.
Since 1999, the “69th PA Irish Volunteers - a Civil War band”—named after one of the most tenacious and auspicious fighting regiments in the Civil War—have raised over $85,000 to support projects that preserve and honor America’s war heroes, ranking it as one of top 250 all-time donors to battlefield preservation, according to the Civil War Preservation Trust. “There is no group of its kind like the 69th Pennsylvania that has done more for preservation,” said Jim Lighthizer, President of the Civil War Preservation Trust, a non-profit organization with over 75,000 members nationwide.

Dr. Levine plays guitar in the “69th Pennsylvania Irish Volunteers - a Civil War Band” which contributes generous funding for tombstones dedications, battlefield preservation and educational grants to promote the learning and preservation of American history.
The band plays at local venues in the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys, and the Gettysburg area, and has recorded two musical CDs, “Rock of Erin” (2002) and “In Their Honor” (2006) to help support their fund-raising efforts. In addition, the band recently appeared in an independent feature film called “Placebo”, and their music was included on the film’s soundtrack.
