Montgomery County is located just outside of Philadelphia. The county seat is Norristown. It was created in 1784 out of land that was originally part of Philadelphia County. It is home to a number of historic places, such as the Barley Sheaf Inn, which was used as the first courthouse in the county in the late 1700′s.
